| Antelope Canyon is located near Page, Arizona. April through September is considered the prime time to visit this slot canyon, famous for the extraordinary beams of light that enter its crevices like spotlights. The canyon is a kaleidoscope of color and a place unlike any other we have experienced. During the peak season it may be very crowded so be forewarned. Entry into the canyon is regulated by the Navajo and you must obtain their permission to enter. You may arrange a tour through, www.jeeptour.com Or to obtain a permit directly contact:Antelope Canyon UnitNavajo Parks and RecreationPO Box 4803Page, AZ 86040Phone: (928) 698-3347Fax: (928) 698-3360Hours: 8am - 5pm M - F | ![]() Click to visit the Antelope Canyon Gallery. |
| While you are in the Page, Arizona area you will definitely want to visit Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend. Horseshoe bend is very easy to access. As you approach or leave Page on US Highway 89 you will see (if you’re looking for it- the sign is not visible from the highway) a small road veering off to the west just south of mile marker 545 and about 5 miles south of the Carl Hayden Visitor center. Head west a short distance to the car park and you will then see the sign marked Horseshoe Bend. You will need to hike uphill about ½ of a mile and then it is another ¼ mile to the rim of the canyon. There, a magnificent view of the Colorado River, snaking its way around an escarpment to form a horseshoe awaits you. You will want an ultra-wide angle lens in order to capture the “grand view”. This area is best photographed early, as the afternoon finds much of the area in shadows. You can find more information on this beautiful area by going to www.canyon-country.com and clicking on Lake Powell. | ![]() Lake Powell and Navajo Mountain from Alstrom Point.
